The new „Initiative Wirtschaftschutz“ (economic security initiative) website offers German businesses, associations, research institutes, and government bodies a central source of information regarding business security for the first time. In addition to comprehensive information about threats to German businesses, the website also offers practical suggestions for targeted protection.
Users can inform themselves about central business security themes, such as industrial espionage, proprietary information protection, white-collar crime, cyber defense and IT protection. Registered users also have access to more detailed information, such as the monthly special business security report, invitations to internal expert events, as well as tools for submitting inquiries regarding security themes and actively participating in the network.
The German Federal Ministry of the Interior leads the project, which also involves further German security authorities, including Germany’s domestic intelligence service (Bundesamt für Verfassungsschutz), the Federal Criminal Police Office (Bundeskriminalamt), the Federal Office for Information Security (Bundesamt für Sicherheit in der Informationstechnik), and the Federal Intelligence Service (Bundesnachrichtendienst). The government is supported by business and security associations, including the Federation of German Industries, the Association of German Chambers of Commerce and Industry, and the Alliance for Business Security.
