In March and April, the German Patent and Trademark Office (DPMA) hosts a road show on current changes in German trade mark law. In seven cities across Germany, the DPMA’s experts will bring you up to date.

Between 11 March and 3 April, the DPMA will offer a nationwide series of information events on the amendments in trademark law following the introduction of the German Markenrechtsmodernisierungsgesetz (MAMoG, the trademark law modernization act), which came into force in January. Legal experts will present details on the changes in regulations and procedures in Berlin, Darmstadt, Dortmund, Hamburg, Jena, Munich, and Stuttgart.

During the three-hour events, you can learn about the new national certification mark and expand your knowledge of current regulations for trademark types, absolute grounds for refusal, as well as license registration. Changes of the term of protection, the renewal of IP rights, and opposition proceedings will also be discussed.

In addition, the legal practitioners of the DPMA will clarify open questions concerning the classification of goods and services – e.g. the effects of the EU’s standardized classification system or the increasing importance of the Harmonized Database’s (HDB) group titles for trademark protection in Europe.

For more information on the program as well as the registration process for individual events, please visit the DPMA’s events page.
