Join the PATINFO2017 in Ilmenau to find out about upcoming changes in European trademark and patent laws, and learn how to best prepare for them from various brand and patent experts.

From the 31st of May to the 2nd of June, 2017, the PATINFO2017 will take place in Ilmenau. The annual conference, organised by the state patent centre Thuringia (Landespatentzentrum Thüringen, PATON), is dedicated to patent information and industrial property rights. This year, special attention will be devoted to the subject of “European IP systems in transition”.

Numerous interesting lectures, for example, touch upon current changes to EU trademark law or the consequences of the Brexit for the protection of industrial property rights. Representatives of the German Patent and Trademark Office (DPMA) and the European Patent Office (EPO) will provide first-hand insight from the perspective of patent offices, while companies and patent attorneys will give presentations on the challenges and opportunities from their perspective.

In addition, numerous other topics including research, patent evaluation and utilisation, as well as brand and design protection will be addressed. Claudia Meindel from Euro-Triumph, for instance, will give a report titled “Brand Protection and Defense in Corporate Practice”, and Dr. Stephan Wolke from thyssenkrupp Intellectual Property will provide information on the topic “Securing Patent Protection in Europe – Decision Making in a Global Engineering Company”.

The event is accompanied by an exhibition presenting the current technological range offered by the Thuringian universities and scientific institutes. Also planned is an interesting workshop programme, which is free of charge to PATINFO participants, as well as a welcome evening on the 31st of May.

The PATINFO is aimed primarily at patent attorneys, patent specialists, engineers, scientists, service and data providers and information brokers as well as offices and institutions dealing with industrial property rights. More information about the event as well as the possibility to register can be found on the PATON website. Guests registering before the 30th of April can benefit from an early bird discount.
