First, representatives of the German Patent and Trade Mark Office (DPMA), the European Patent Office (EPO), and the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO) will provide an overview of the impact of artificial intelligence (AI) on IP rights. Then, industry experts and specialists from information services, patent offices, and academia will share their insights into various fields of application as well as challenges posed by AI.

Based on the example of the automotive industry, Robert Sterner of Audi AG illustrates current issues in brand and product protection. Mark Buckley and Kai Plum of Siemens AG present possible applications of artificial intelligence for technological hierarchies. In addition, Burkhard Josuhn-Kadner of GE Global Patent Operations shows how artificial intelligence can help in managing global patent portfolios, while Yannick Loonus of Semalytix GmbH explains how computers develop text comprehension skills and how this might be used to advance IP protection.

The expert lectures will be complemented by a free workshop program. In addition, around 40 information service and software providers will present the latest developments through a series of short presentations as well as an accompanying exhibition. The team from Patent Management of the Thuringian Universities will also be there to showcase their latest innovations in technology.
