The following terms and privacy notes apply to the prize draw accompanying the survey Innovative strategies for fighting fakes (hereinafter “prize draw”); they inform about the rules of participation, the warranties and liabilities, the processing of the personal data of the participants as well as about their rights of objection and revocation.
Further important information may also be provided in the announcement of the prize draw. Please also note the further information in the general privacy policy of the organizer Karg und Petersen Agentur für Kommunikation GmbH.

Participation
You can participate in the prize draw by submitting an online form and confirming your participation by clicking on a confirmation link sent via email (double opt-in). Participation is free of charge and not connected to the purchase of goods or services. The winners of the prizes will be drawn by lot from all submissions. Information on the duration of the prize draw can be found in the respective prize draw announcement. The winners will be drawn within six weeks after the end of the prize draw duration.
Notification of winners and claiming of prizes
Winners will be notified via email; they will not be entitled to claim the cash value of a prize. If the winner does not respond within two weeks after being contacted by email, the claim to a prize is void. Similarly, the claim to a prize is void if a participant cannot be notified due to incomplete or incorrect contact data; the participants themselves are responsible that the provided contact information is correct. In such cases, we reserve the right to repeat the draw or to forego the drawing of a prize.
Eligibility to participate
The prize draw is directed at participants of the survey Innovative strategies for fighting fakes. All persons aged 18 or above who provide us with the filled-in online form for the prize draw are eligible to participate in the prize draw. Each participant may only enter the prize draw once. Employees of the organizer and their relatives (spouses/children) are excluded from participating. The organizer reserves the right to exclude individual persons from participating in the prize draw if there are important reasons, such as violation of the terms for the prize draw or suspected improper influence/manipulation. In such cases, we also reserve the right to reclaim already awarded prizes.
Amendments of the prize draw terms and termination of the prize draw
The organizer reserves the right to change the terms for participating in the prize draw at any time with effect for the future. Furthermore, we reserve the right to terminate or interrupt the prize draw for important reasons at any time without prior notice and without giving rise to any claims against us on the part of the participants. This can in particular include such reasons that would disrupt or prevent the proper execution of the prize draw; it also includes external circumstances and constraints such as technical problems, legal changes, or compulsory measures by third parties that are beyond our control.
Warranties and liabilities
The prize draw and the prizes are voluntarily provided by us; the warranty and liability rules as for example in the case of a regular purchase of the prizes do not apply. The organizer is not liable for any prizes not offered by ourselves, subject to our own fault in accordance with these terms. Rather, the warranty and/or liability provisions of the respective providers of the prizes apply, provided that these do not restrict the participants and can be transferred by us to the participants.
Prizes described or depicted in the prize draw announcement may differ from actual prizes if they are of approximately equivalent value from the point of view of an average participant. For example, model, color, location, etc. may vary.
Final provisions
The laws of the Federal Republic of Germany apply. Legal recourse is excluded with regards to the drawing of the winners and the possible evaluation of the submissions in the price draw. If individual provisions of the terms are or become invalid, this shall not affect the validity of the remaining terms.
Legal basis for processing personal data
The data processing necessary for the prize draw is carried out in accordance with Art. 6 Sect. 1 lit. a of the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) and based on your consent.
Scope and purpose of data processing and storage period
We inform participants in the announcement of the prize draw what information is required for participation. To enable you to enter the prize draw, we generally process your email address as well as your first name and last name (necessary to identify and notify winners by email); if you win a prize, we might also process your address (if necessary for processing the prize).
The personal data collected as part of the prize draw will only be used to conduct the prize draw (including raffle, notification of winners, and, if applicable, shipping of prizes). Without the respective data, participation in the prize draw and/or shipping of the prizes is not possible. Participants’ personal data will only be transmitted to third parties insofar as this is necessary for conducting the prize draw (e.g. to send/provide prizes) or if a participant has consented to the transmission.
We will not make further use of the personal data collected as part of the prize draw. This does not apply to personal data that we are allowed to use independently of the prize draw, e.g. in case you have agreed to receive a newsletter. In such cases, the processing and storage period of such data shall be governed by the corresponding provisions in our general privacy policy.
After the prize draw is closed, the data collected as part of the prize draw will be deleted as soon as it is no longer required and no further queries regarding the prize draw can be expected (generally after six months at the latest). If you have been selected as a winner, your data may be stored longer, e.g. to ship the prize, to handle queries and possible warranty requests, and/or to fulfil legal record keeping obligations; in this case the data will generally be deleted after ten years.
Carrying out of the prize draw
To implement the prize draw and the online form for participating, the organizer uses the service provider Newsletter2Go/Sendinblue (Sendinblue GmbH, Köpenicker Straße 126, 10179 Berlin, Germany). The data you provide will be stored on Sendinblue’s servers in Germany. Sendinblue GmbH is obliged to protect your data and not to pass it on to third parties. The company is a German provider that has been selected in accordance with the requirements of the GDPR and the German Federal Data Protection Act. Rights of data subjects
As a data subject, you are entitled to the data subject rights listed in the general privacy policy of the organizer Karg und Petersen Agentur für Kommunikation GmbH, given the corresponding data protection conditions; your rights in particular arise from Articles 15 to 18 and 21 GDPR.
