The 32nd annual European Association of Trademark owners, Marques, will soon take place in Paris. Meet with numerous experts for discussions and interactive workshops regarding current trademark issues.

In September, the European Association of Trademark owners Marques, invites interested parties to Paris for its 32nd Annual Conference. The event’s theme this year is “Branding Style: Appearance, Aesthetics and Éclat” and offers numerous interesting discussion panels on issues of brand management and brand protection.

In several panel discussions the conference will for example address the issue of protecting confidential information under the current EU Trademark Protection Policy and the US DTSA (Defend Trade Secrets Act). In addition, topics such as online trademark protection in the context of the arbitration procedure UDRP (Uniform Domain-Name Dispute-Resolution Policy) will be covered. There will also be a panel dedicated to the issue of EU copyright reform.

In addition, Marques offers a number of interesting workshops: topics include for example brands in China, in cooperation with the Chinese brand association CTA, the effects of the General Data Protection Regulation (DSGVO in German or GDPR in English), and protected geographic indicators. A separate presentation will also discuss the impact of the Brexit on trademark law.

This year’s Marques conference will be held at the Marriott Rive Gauche hotel in Paris from 18 to 21 September, 2018 and is also open to non-members. A detailed program and the possibility to register can be found on the Marques event website.
