This year’s PATINFO2023 will be held between 14 and 16 June in Ilmenau, Thuringia. In addition to the conference, the event, organized by Ilmenau University of Technology and the Thuringia State Patent Center (PATON), will feature interactive workshops and an exhibition. The focus of this year’s meeting of IP experts and industry representatives is on “IP information as a raw material for tomorrow’s economy”.
The conference will kick off with overviews of developments in IP protection by representatives of authorities and international organizations such as the German Patent and Trademark Office (DPMA), the European Patent Office (EPO), and the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO). One topic will be the use of artificial intelligence (AI) and related opportunities for IP protection. Following this, for example, industry experts and patent law specialists will give presentations from their respective perspectives.
For instance, Anja von der Ropp of the WIPO will speak about intellectual property on the way to a sustainable future; and Thorsten Zank from BASF will talk about IP intelligence and the resulting challenges for analysts, organizations, and information providers. In addition, Benjamin Grau from the patent law firm Fleuchhaus and Gallo will highlight experiences and views on the much-discussed EU unitary patent, which was already a topic at last year’s PATINFO2022. Furthermore, the cooperation between law firms and clients as well as the importance of intellectual property for startups will be discussed, among other topics.
Along with the presentations by around 20 experts and the free workshops, PATINFO2023 will be accompanied by an exhibition. There, around 30 exhibitors will present new developments in the field of intellectual property rights.
