Join the PATINFO2018 and learn from patent experts how you can use research in patents, trademarks, and design to help your business gain a competitive advantage.

The PATINFO2018 takes place in Ilmenau from 13 to 15 June 2018. This year’s 40th session of the colloquium of the Technical University Ilmenau again informs participants about patent information and commercial intellectual property, with the motto: ‘IP Search – Impact on Competition’.

The PATINFO2018 commences with representatives of the German Patent and Trademark Office (DPMA), the European Patent Office (EPO), the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO), and the European Union Intellectual Property Office (EUIPO) discussing the importance of IP information for industrial competition.

Also featured are patent attorneys, patent and brand experts from industry and patent offices, as well as information service providers and scientific institutions, all of which are sharing their knowledge. For example, Stephan Wolke and Jan Schulze will be reporting for thyssenkrupp Intellectual Property GmbH on the establishment of an IP research division to ensure effective patent protection. And Arndt Mecke from Siemens will be providing information about Alert Services in 2018, while Sheila Rietscher of KAHLA / Thüringen Porzellan GmbH will be sharing information on design innovation as a recipe for success.

Colloquium participants will also be able to join presentations from legal experts, e.g. including attorney Prof. Christian Klawitter of KNPZ attorneys at law who will be giving a presentation titled “Protection of technical product features in design, trademark and unfair competition law.” In addition, participants can discuss with Dr. Henning Hartwig of BARDEHLE PAGENBERG on “Research in Design Law – Purpose, Possibilities and Limitations.” The conference will also address current issues in the fields of patent research as well as patent evaluation and exploitation.

In an accompanying exhibition and a series of short presentations, PATINFO2018 participants can learn about the latest developments from more than 40 software providers and information service providers. The patent management team of the Thüringen Universities will also present up-to-date technology on offers in the field of science.

Last but not least, the event also offers a free workshop program and an evening reception on 13 June 2018. PATINFO is primarily aimed at participants from companies, patent attorneys, patent experts, engineers, scientists, service and data providers, information agencies, and commercial offices and institutions dealing with legal protection.
