Join the PATINFO2021 and listen invited experts discussing patent information and IP rights protection. This year’s event focuses on how intelligent IP strategies can help you succeed in the face of competition.

From 9 to 11 June, PATINFO2021 will take place at the Congress Centrum Suhl with a dedicated hygiene protocol. The expert congress of the Ilmenau University of Technology and the Patent Center Thuringia (PATON), which is planned as a live event, will inform you about patent information and intellectual property rights protection. The focus of this year’s event is on “market success with smart IP strategy”.

Starting off the event, representatives from the German Patent and Trademark Office (DPMA), the European Patent Office (EPO), and the German Federal Ministry of Justice and Consumer Protection (BMJV) will give an overview of current issues relating to IP rights, patent information, and patent law topics. Following this, dedicated presentations by experts and patent attorneys from industry and commerce, as well as customs authorities, will provide diverse insights into application examples and current questions relating to IP rights.

Making the example of a technology enterprise, Stefan Kienitz from Jenoptik, for instance, will highlight how fully automated product labeling can help prevent damages claims in the USA and the UK. And Thomas Freitag of Melexis will explain how you can implement holistic processes from product development and IP management. Klaus Hoffmeister from the Industrial Property Office of the German General Directorate of Customs in Munich will talk about the role of customs as part of a smart IP strategy, while Christian Posselt from the DPMA will talk about new revocation and invalidity proceedings. Further practice-oriented topics include protecting IP strategies with thorough research and patent analyses for monitoring competition.

Next to the expert congress, there are a free workshop program and a welcome evening. In addition, around 30 exhibitors will be presenting on IPR developments at an accompanying exhibition.

If interested, you can register for the conference on the PATON’s event page, where you can also access more information about the event.
